Frequently asked questions
If you're feeling unsure, you're not alone. Let’s walk through some of the things people often ask before starting.
Before you get started, here’s what you might like to know
We know starting therapy can bring up questions. Here are some of the most common ones to help you feel more informed and at ease.
What kinds of issues do you help with?
We support clients with a wide range of concerns — including anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, PTSD, grief, stress, emotional regulation, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relationship difficulties, and more.
You don’t need a diagnosis to reach out. If something’s affecting your emotional wellbeing, we’re here to help.
I’m not sure if therapy is right for me. What should I do?
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people come to talk through challenges, understand themselves better, or build emotional resilience.
If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute phone consult — no pressure, just a chance to chat and see if it feels like the right fit for you.
Do I need a referral to book a session?
No referral is needed — you can contact us directly to make a booking. However, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.
We're happy to talk you through your options if you're unsure.
How long are sessions and how often will I need to attend?
Sessions typically run for 50 minutes. The frequency depends on your needs — some people come weekly at first, while others prefer fortnightly.
We’ll discuss what feels right for you and adjust as you go. Therapy is always a collaborative process.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes, we do. If you're unable to attend in person or simply feel more comfortable from home, telehealth sessions are available.
You’ll receive the same personalised, evidence-based care — just from the comfort of your own space. All you need is a quiet room, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera. We’ll guide you through it.
Can I claim Medicare rebates for sessions?
Yes, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you're eligible to claim Medicare rebates for sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. This means you can receive a partial rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
To get started, book an appointment with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Care Plan. If you’re unsure how it works or what to ask for, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to walk you through it.
What age groups do you work with?
We work with individuals aged 12 and over — including teens, adults, and older clients.
Our approach is tailored to your stage of life and what you’re navigating, whether that’s school stress, career overwhelm, relationships, or the impacts of past trauma.
If you're unsure whether the service is right for you or someone you care about, feel free to reach out.
Do I need a mental health diagnosis to see you?
Not at all. You don’t need a diagnosis or referral to start therapy. Many people come simply because they’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to turn next.
Whether you’ve got a name for what you’re experiencing or not, if something doesn’t feel right, we’re here to help.
Can I switch from in-person to telehealth (or vice versa)?
Yes — we offer flexible options. You’re welcome to change between in-person and telehealth sessions at any point, depending on what suits your schedule, comfort, or circumstances.
What if I’ve had a negative experience with therapy before?
It can take courage to try again after a difficult experience. This practice is built on emotional safety, transparency, and working at your pace. If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll talk about it openly. Therapy should feel like a partnership — not something done to you, but something we create together.
